History[edit]

Aha! is a self-funded, private company, founded by Brian de Haaff and Dr. Chris Waters[10] in the spring of 2013[11] in Menlo Park, California.[12] They have no centralized headquarters, and employees remotely work[13] from the United States and some international locations.

In 2017, Aha! co-founder and CEO Brian de Haaff released the book Lovability,[14] sharing his philosophy on building businesses and products.

In 2019 and 2020, Aha! expanded their roadmapping software to target marketing, IT, services, project management, and business operations users.

In October 2020, Aha! launched Aha! Ideas,[15] aiming to give teams a way to crowdsource ideas from customers, employees, and partners into their product plans. In May 2021, the company released Aha! Develop,[16] an agile development tool for engineering teams.

In 2022, Aha! introduced a digital notebook[17] for product builders. Aha! Notebooks[18] aims to give teams the ability to collaborate on documentation and concepts. The company also announced that they surpassed $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR)[19] and launched The Bootstrap Movement, which aims to facilitate sustainable business growth using self-reliance and value exchange, rather than outside funding.

The company claims to have donated more than $1 million[20] through its philanthropic giving program, Aha! Cares.

Recognition[edit]

Aha! has been included on several employee satisfaction lists, including Forbes,[21] LinkedIn, and WeWorkRemotely.

In 2018, Aha! was #143 on the Inc. 500 list[22] of fastest-growing private companies in the U.S and #13 of all software companies.

Aha! also ranked #50 on Deloitte’s 2018 Technology Fast 500[23] and in the top 100 on Forbes' 2021 list of best startups.[24]

In 2022, Fortune [25] featured Aha! in an article about how to bootstrap over accepting outside funding.

Forbes Advisor[26] named Aha! software as “Best for roadmapping” in its roundup of The Best Business Plan Software of 2023.
