Berkakit (Russian: Беркаки́т; Yakut: Беркакит) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) in Neryungrinsky District of the Sakha Republic, Russia, located 7 kilometers (4.3 mi) from Neryungri, the administrative center of the district.[2] As of the 2010 Census, its population was 4,291.[3]

Urban-type settlement status was granted to it in 1977.[2]

Administrative and municipal status[edit]

Within the framework of administrative divisions, the urban-type settlement of Berkakit[1] is incorporated within Neryungrinsky District as the Settlement of Berkakit.[2] As a municipal division, the Settlement of Berkakit is incorporated within Neryungrinsky Municipal District as Berkakit Urban Settlement.[5]

Transportation[edit]

Berkakit sits on both the Amur–Yakutsk Mainline and Amur–Yakutsk Highway.
