Aramaic with vowels: בֵּית לַחְמָא
Transliteration: Beit Lachma (Bayt Lachmaw, Bayt Lochmaw)

The village was known as House of Bread from 930 BC onwards in both Aramaic and Hebrew. There were always some people who knew both languages. However, the majority spoke Hebrew up until the Siege of Jerusalem (587 BC). Therefore, most would have known it as Beit Lekhem.

After the siege, the majority language eventually became Aramaic, and most would have known the village as Beit Lachma. This is the name that a common person would have known it by during the time of Christ, its most famous time.

Lucifer

One of the names for the Planet Venus / The Morning Star.[15]

This name was chosen in the King James translation of the bible. The morning star was used as a metaphor in Isaiah 14:12. It refers to King Nebuchadnezzar II having great power like the morning star, and then later falling from the sky due to his wickedness.[15]

"How art thou fallen from heaven [the sky], O Lucifer [Venus], son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!"
Isaiah 14:12, King James Version

Confusion over this verse has led to the misconception that Lucifer is the devil.[15]
