Categorized or Un-categorized[edit]

Why is this page listed on the Uncategorized Categories page? Doesn't make sense. --THE FOUNDERS INTENT TALK 17:07, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that the category doesn't have any parent categories might have something to do with it. - Dudesleeper / Talk 19:46, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Can we put it into some hidden category?Carn (talk) 17:58, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Category:Intentionally uncategorized categories? :p —Ruud 04:47, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

26 July 2010, the hiddencat Category:Parent categories was removed and this cat again appeared in uncategorized categories auto-generated list. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 09:09, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't this can be solved unless someone rewrites the software to make an exception for this page. I believe this is a corollary example of Russell's paradox, which only a bibliography student or philosopher would worry about. (ie most of us)Mercurywoodrose (talk) 06:15, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Overview headings[edit]

Is there some reason the top-level headings of the overview can't be turned into categories? —Codrdan (talk) 08:00, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That would turn it into a list. Since it is a category the focus should be on sub categories. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 10:04, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Create a BOT to alphabetize and organize categories automatically[edit]

As someone who has been doing this manually for years, I hereby dutifully beg of anyone who is technically proficient and knows how to create and run a bot that will:

  1. Automatically sort all Categories on each article and category page alphabetically;
  2. Create a uniform system for where to place categories on each article and category page that commence with numbers, such as years of birth/death, centuries, and any category that starts with a number/numeral.

Please see the centralized discussion at Wikipedia:Bot requests/Archive 61#Create a BOT to alphabetize and organize categories automatically. Thank you, IZAK (talk) 08:55, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Tech help required to improve categories[edit]

Please see Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#CatVisor and User:Paradoctor/CatVisor#Planned features if you are willing and able to assist this innovative WP project move along it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, IZAK (talk) 23:06, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This has become part of a circular reference[edit]

Since this category was categorized as a "container category" it has become part of a circular reference of categories. This does not seem like a good idea. As stated in Wikipedia:Categorization#Category_tree_organization, Category:Contents is the top category and if you try to categorize it, you run into circular reference problems. So is there any opposition to removing the container category item? --Rsteen (talk) 10:15, 23 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Rsteen: Agreed. I've removed the category. Optimist on the run (talk) 09:50, 17 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
