[edit] Overview
The purpose of Copernic Desktop Search is to perform an instant search across the entire computer not only on the names of the items, but also on the contents and Metadata of these items. As usual with desktop searches, the first time it is run an initial index is created. As items are added, changed or removed from the computer, Copernic Desktop Search makes incremental changes in the background using idle system resources.
[edit] Limitations
According to Copernic's technical support, the total size of the index files cannot exceed 2GB. This admission is in direct conflict with the posted FAQ comments:
Is there a maximum number of files and emails that I can index with Copernic Desktop Search? No. There is no limit to the size of the index or the number of indexed items. However, a large index requires more memory and more time to perform searches. So the only limit is the power of your computer (disk space, CPU speed).[2]
