Gyan Singh is a Delhi-based North Indian classical/World music Tabla player and percussionist. He has played with artists like Pt. T.V. Gopalakrishnan, Pt. L.K. Pandit, Vidushi Sulochna Brahaspati, Vidushi Aruna Sairam, Sriram Parsuram & Anuradha Sriram, Pt. Brij Narayan, Pt. Biswajit Roy Chowdhury, Pt. Ronu Majumdar, Pt. Rajendra Prasanna[1], Sh. Shubhendra Rao, Smt. Meeta Pandit, and in Ustad Amjad Ali Khan’s Orchestra. He has been associated with All India Radio.

Early life and training[edit]

Gyan Singh is a Delhi-based Indian classical/World Music Tabla player with years of training under the guidance of the late Ustad Abdullah Khan;

Subsequently, undertaking training under the tutelage of the late Ustad Faiyaz Khan and Pt. Suresh Talwarkar.

Career[edit]

He has also played in Taal Vadya Kacheri (percussion ensemble).

Gyan has played in various music festivals and is one of the founding members of the Indian world music band "Mrigya".

He's been associated with Indian rock band Parikrama[2], Indian Ocean[3], Nasha[4], Band of boys, Orange street, and has also played with Papon[5], Tochi Raina, Penaz Masani[6], etc. He has also played with DJs/Producers like Midival Punditz, Whosane, Clement and Dj San, Beatboxer/Producer Jason Singh[7], etc.

During the month of Nov 2003, he toured with French Jazz Fusion Band Mukta and added his flavors to their album “Mukta Haveli[8]" released under Warner Music France. In the year 2005, Gyan was on tour with the French pianist Allie Delfau[9]. Gyan has, on many occasions, lent his talent to the Spanish band “Ojos de Brujo[10]” and added his flavor to their album “Techari Live[11]”.

Gyan has had the opportunity to play with Yoko Ono Lennon[12], saxophonist George Brooks, Rock/Blues Guitarist and Singer Bernie Marsden[13], flamenco guitarist Pepe Habichuela[14], Spanish Musician Antonio Carmona, Trondheim Orchestra, and also played with Pangea Big Band[15] in Slovenia.
