English: Camel gun is a small cannon, also know as swivel gun. It was a specialized form of self propelled artillery from the early modern period. It consisted of a soldier on a camel with a mounted swivel gun, which was hinged on a metal fork rest protruding from the saddle of the animal.

In order to fire the cannon, the camel would be put on its knees. The ammunition was initially a steel cylinder charged with black power and primed with a percussion cap. The shells were gravity fed into the breech through a hopper or stick magazine on top of the gun.

Each barrel had its own firing mechanism. This gun is also Known as Shuturnal, or Shaheen. Machedi was the famous centre of making camel guns in erstwhile Alwar state.
