Summary

Description
English: veteran and his wife. He is wearing a top hat, coat and medal, she a bonnet with ruffles, paisley shawl, and gloves.
Notes: This photograph is a hand-tinted ambrotype using the bleached collodion positive process. He is wearing what appears to be a British Military General Service Medal with six clasps and is a veteran of the Peninsular Wars.
Any previous suggestion that this shows an "American Civil War" (1861-1865) veteran is incorrect.
