Description
English: 1904 White & Poppe motorcycle engine with several advanced and distinctive features. Cylinder is 80 mm x 85 mm. Compression 4¼ atmospheres or about 64 lbs psi, normal speed about 1,800 rpm. Inlet and exhaust valves are mechanically operated and interchangeable. Valve seats may be removed, there is provision for adjusting the valve stem length and timing. Bearings are hard phosphor bronze. The engine is available air-cooled or with a water-cooled head. The head is so arranged to permit the sparking plug to be placed centrally over the piston or directly over the inlet valve.
