Description

Paramount Theatre. 1037 SW Broadway, Portland, Oregon. August 5, 1939. Billboard advertises Irving Berlin's Second Fiddle, starring Sonja Henie, Tyrone Power, and Rudee Valley, and The Lady and The Mob with Ida Lupino. The Paramount later became the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. The Paramount sign was replaced with a Portland sign in 1984. The KOIN sign sits atop the Heathman Hotel.

  • This image was a film test. It was probably taken out of the window of Room 445 in the Federal Courthouse (later Gus Solomon), where the Bureau of Entomology and Plant Quarantine staff were located.
