Summary

Description
English: The Halltown Colored Free School, located on Halltown Road near the intersection of Tabb Lane in the unincorporated community of Halltown, West Virginia, was built in 1870 to educate African-American children in Halltown, who were not allowed to attend the local schools for whites. It functioned as a school until 1929, when it was converted into a residence. The school is to the left and behind the Halltown Union Colored Sunday School, and is owned by the same community organization. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
