English: Ajanta Caves after monsoon, Buddhist art work, Maharashtra India This is a Sanskrit inscription in Brahmi script, dated to 2nd-1st century BCE. It means, "the facade is the gift of Vasisthiputra Katahadi" (Translated by Walter Spink, Ajanta: Painting, sculpture, architecture, pages 1-2).
