A diagram showing an aircraft (Boeing 747), along with the following properties:

  • x, y, z: Position co-ordinates
  • u, w, v: Velocites in the x, y, z directions
  • p: roll
  • q: pitch
  • r: yaw

Also shown are the three main control surface deflections:

  • δa: Aileron
  • δe: Elevator
  • δr: Rudder
