Description |
A very early American Line advertisement, circa 1874-75. The advertisement features an artist's impression of a Pennsylvania class vessel under full sail (in reality, sails were only employed if the ship suffered mechanical trouble). The advertisement mentions the four original American Line steamships, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois, along with two chartered vessels, Abbotsford and Kenilworth. Abbotsford was lost off the coast of Wales between July 21 and July 23, 1875. | |||
