Summary

Description
English: The Anderson Shelter was designed in 1939 to provide shelter for up to six people during an enemy air raid. The shelter consisted of a prefabricated kit and was either sunk 4 ft (1.2 m) into the ground or, as is shown in this exhibit at the Rural Life Centre at Tilford, surrounded with sand bags and covered with earth.
