Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- The image has been modified from the original image in good faith as it serves as an easily identifiable part of a larger entity.
- The copy of the image is low-resolution and will not produce high-quality copies. The quality is high enough to clearly present the image and to place the subject represented by the image in a good light.
- The Image illustrates a group that is no longer active and one of its members, Tim Cooper has passed away. Therefore a substitute image cannot be easily provided.
- The use of the image will not affect the value of the original work or limit the copyright holder's rights or ability to gain commercially from the work.
- It illustrates educational article about the subject represented by the image.
- The image is used as the primary means of visual identification of topic in the article.
