English: Bronze figurine of Egyptian god Osiris. Belongs to the Late Period and Greco-Roman Period (664 BC-642 CE). University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archeology and Anthropology exhibit. Osiris is depicted with a "crook" and a flail and in a partly mummified form. The Greco-Roman influence in the structure of this statuette is noteworthy. Egyptians believe Osiris to be the king of the underworld and the supreme judge of the afterlife. Osiris, according to myth, is dismembered and murdered by his brother Seth but is brought back to life by his sister-wife Isis. Horus is the son of Isis and Osiris. Being the god of afterlife and resurrection, Osiris is also worshiped as a fertility deity.
