Notes
Dansk: Under Eckersbergs ophold i Paris malede han efter mandlig nøgenmodel på J. L. Davids malerskole; af moralske grunde benyttede man ikke kvindelige modeller. Under private former dannede han en studiekreds med bl.a. tyske kunstnere, hvor man malede efter både mandlig og kvindelig model. I Paris blev Eckersberg opmærksom på, hvor vigtigt det var at tegne efter naturen. Han fortsatte hermed i Rom, hvor der var mulighed for at vælge mellem smukke professionelle modeller.På udstillingen "Den nøgne guldalder. Modelbilleder. C. W. Eckersberg og hans elever" på Den Hirschsprungske Samling i 1994 udstilledes som nr. 22 en tegning af den samme pige i de samme omgivelser som nærværende - dog i en anden seng. Denne tegning tilhører Thorvaldsens Museum. Om motivet nævnes: "Pigens placering i sengen i det samtidige interiør giver motivet en sensuel karakter". Kunstnere som Constantin Hansen og Wilhelm Marstrand malede i 1837 og 1839 i Rom lignende studier af nøgne piger liggende på en seng med armene over hovedet. Muligvis har de kendt Eckersbergs motiv. Der kan læses mere om dette maleri af Eckersberg og om andre kunstneres behandling af motivet i Bettina Sinnets artikel "Forbuden frugt" i Bruun Rasmussens kulturmagasin "AuktionsLiv", nr. 6, oktober 2004, s. 12-16.
