"Dustbowl Duster: Sitting in the middle of a virtual dustbowl on Go Noi Island, Marine Private First Class Carl Witherspoon, 20 (Washington, DC) pauses to clean his M-16 rifle. Under battle conditions of Operation Pipestone Canyon a clean rifle is a must as Da Nang, Vietnam, known as the ‘Rice Triangle’ (official USMC photo by Corporal G. W. Wright)."
