Description

A Casa de Caneiros é um exemplar apreciável de construção senhorial da segunda metade do século XVIII, integrando uma capela na fachada. Sobre o lintel da porta almofadada da fachada principal, podemos ver uma pedra de armas dos Cardosos e Meneses. A casa desenvolve-se em dois pisos e liga-se à capela por um alto muro rasgado por uma porta, que é ladeada por dois vãos rectangulares que, por sua vez, dão acesso a um páteo interior. Os muros exteriores que a cercam são adornados por belos vasos trabalhados. Em 1770 António Joaquim de Probém e Barbosa reconstrói a Casa de Caneiros sobre as ruínas do edifício anterior que datava do século XVI e que pertencia a Diogo Afonso Caneiros. Em inícios do século XX a casa foi moradia do Major Alberto de Meneses (Margaride), um dos caudilhos da rebelião realista de 1919. O enquadramento é rural e, hoje em dia, muito degradado devido à existência de numerosas construções incaracterísticas que têm vindo ali a implantar-se.
