Summary

Description
English: Roadside memorial to Chanélle Henning (26), daughter of Sharon and Ivan Saincic from Hartbeespoort, who was killed in a drive-by shooting on 8 November 2011 in Pretoria. The murder case remains unsolved, comprising one many unsolved crime cases in the local area which also involves local police or in this case two ex-policemen. Ambrose Monye, a Nigerian Olympic athlete turned drug dealer, who on the day of the murder had been acquitted on an unrelated murder charge, and André Gouws (47), ex-policeman linked to planting of drugs on innocents, received life sentences while recently suspended (for stealing dockets) police detective Gerhard (Doep/ie) du Plessis (34) and Willem (Tattoo/Pike) Pieterse received 18 year sentences each for the murder conspiracy, which according to some reports was linked to a mafia group. Due to unwillingness to testify for the prosecution, the mastermind or masterminds in the contract murder have not been brought to book, and no motive has been revealed in her killing.
The murder occurred directly after the local community security group was disrupted by criminals and its money stolen in another unsolved case. Community members tried to form a new security group but some of its members were immediately intimidated by the police and locals, causing them to go into hiding. Members of a third local community security group either deny knowing anything about the murder, despite the memorial being highly visible in the suburb, or distance themselves from the case as far as possible, as do some local residents. The memorial disappeared in 2023.
