Text:

w:Chief Niwot of the Southern Arapahoe used the area along Boulder Creek, near the foothills of Boulder, for his winter campground. The Southern Arapahoe and Chief Niwot were forced from this area by gold seekers in 1858. He always strove for peace. He was killed at the Sand Creek massacre November 27, 1864. This sculpture is a rendition of Chief Niwot as seen through the eyes of Sculptor Thomas Meagher Miller 1985.
