Early on this morning, I headed into Rocky Mountain National Park. It was so early that the entrance station was unmanned. I was hoping to find some moose and elk to photograph. This day there were none to be found, but I was rewarded by many good views of the meadows and mountains as they caught the first light of the rising sun. This water is part the the newly born Colorado River just a few miles below its origin near the site of Lulu City. Here it is just a meandering stream and a series of ponds until it reaching Grand Lake. As it leaves Grand Lake, it picks up water from many other rivers, gains speed and becomes strong enough to carve the Grand Canyon.
I liked the reflections on the water of this nearly still bend in the river. And the golden glow that was just touching the peaks in the background. It was silent except for the sound of a bird now and then singing its thanks for a new day.
