Summary

Description
English: Photo shows early construction on the Lackawanna Cut-Off in Blairstown, New Jersey on Jones Cut - 23 March 1909.
Other information
This image and other related ones are part of the Lackawanna Railroad's collection of glass negatives. This photo was taken on 23 April 1910 by William B. Bunnell, who was the Lackawanna Railroad's staff photographer. (He was an employee of the railroad.) The glass plate negative was developed by Mr. Bunnell for use by the railroad in documenting the construction of the Lackawanna Cut-Off rail line in New Jersey. This photo was never the photographer's personal property. According to Mr. Perry Shoemaker, the last president of the Lackawanna Railroad, who died December 25, 1999, none of the Lackawanna's photos (which would include this one) were ever copyrighted. Further, the afore-mentioned collection of some 19,000 photographic negatives was donated to Syracuse University in 1951. The Lackawanna Railroad ceased as a corporate entity on October 17, 1960. About two years ago (2011), the so-called "Syracuse Collection" of Lackawanna Railroad photographs was transferred from Syracuse University to Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where it now resides.
