Description
English: Dippy the Diplodocus carnegii cast at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum as part of Dippy on Tour in 2019. The original fossil skeleton was found in Wyoming in 1899, and it was owned by Andrew Carnegie who financed its excavation, and made it a feature of his Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh. The replica was cast in plaster and installed in the Natural History Museum, London in 1905, one of ten casts in museums worldwide.
