English: According to the original caption "Aboriginals are not allowed in Darwin, and Dolly is very homesick for the place, so some of the AWAS have brought her back a bucket of genuine Darwin sand from Mendel Beach to console her".

Corporal (Cpl) Dolly, the No. 1 member of the Aboriginal Women's Hygiene Squad at the 69th Australian Women's Army Service (AWAS) Barracks. Cpl Dolly was in Darwin during the first bombing.
