Description
English: Dr. Jill Biden joins U.S. Army Capt. Ivan Castro (right) and his guide Richard Kirby (left) on the sidelines of a cycling race during the inaugural Invictus Games, an international sporting event for wounded warriors to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who serve their countries. Dr. Biden led the White House delegation to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to attend the Closing Ceremony of the 2014 Invictus Games. The United States is one of 14 nations participating. Castro is part of the US team, which includes 98 military athletes: 22 from the Army, 20 from the Marine Corps, 22 from the Navy, 22 from the Air Force and 12 from U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). Inspired by the U.S. Warrior Games, Prince Harry and the Royal Foundation Invictus Games, hosted this international sports competition involving cycling, swimming, track & field, archery, wheelchair rugby, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball, and indoor rowing, and powerlifting.
