Nederlands: Enterprise service bus - In deze afbeelding zijn 3 soorten systemen te zien .NET-systemen, BPEL-systemen en JAVA-systemen. Als een klant met een producent wil communiceren en dit rechtstreeks zou gaan dan zou deze op verschillende manieren met de verschillende systemen moeten communiceren. De systemen rechts kunnen van boven naar beneden cummuniceren dmv respectievelijk SOAP, RNI, SOAP, REST en JNI. De ESB neemt hier de vertaalslag en de routing voor zijn rekening zodat alle klanten met één en hetzelfde protocol kunnen communiceren naar alle systemen van de producenten. In dit geval is dat SOAP. Het is in dit geval dus erg makkelijk om nieuwe systemen te koppelen, aangezien aanpassingen slechts op 1 plek hoeven te gebeuren: de ESB en niet in elk systeem opnieuw om een nieuwe connectie met een nieuw systeem mogelijk te maken.
English: This image shows 3 types of systems .NET systems, BPEL systems and JAVA systems. If a customer wants to communicate with a producer directly, they would have to communicate with different systems in different ways. The systems on the right can communicate from top to bottom using SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol), RNI (Raw Native Interface), SOAP, REST (Representational state transfer) and JNI (Java Native Interface), respectively. The ESB is responsible for translating and routing so that all customers can communicate via the same protocol to all systems of the manufacturers (in this case, via SOAP). Utilizing ESB, it is very easy to connect new systems, as adjustments only need to be done in one place, the ESB, to allow for a new connection with a new system.
