Description
English: Taken from the ABI instrument onboard the GOES-16 satellite, this true-color (GeoColor) satellite image of the Earth was taken on June 21, 2022, around 17:00 UTC, on June 21 in the Northern Hemisphere it is the longest day of the year hence the first day of summer from this point forward the daylight hours will decrease until December 21, while it is the opposite case in the Southern Hemisphere where it is the shortest day of the year, the daylight hours will increase from this point forward hence the first day of winter. (Note: The official time that the solstice occurred was at 09:14 UTC)
