Omitting the weight of the seats, draft gear and springbuffers the car bodies alone weigh only 47 lb. per square footof floor area, or 486 lb. per linear foot. BRAKES AND MOTORS The cars are equipped with Westinghouse pneumatic trainsignals and schedule A M L automatic air brakes having thefeatures of quick service, quick recharge, graduated release andhigh pressure in emergency applications. The air brake com-pressor is operated by a motor wound for 1200 volts. It has acapacity of 35 cu. ft. of free air per minute and is controlled byan automatic governor, which maintains the main reservoirpressure between 85 lb. and 100 lb.
