The text on the title page is as follows:

"THE / SECOND PART / OF THE / INSTITUTES / Of the Lawes of England. / CONTAINING / The Expoſition of many anci- / ent, and other Statutes; / Whereof you may ſee the particulars / in a Table following
"Juriſperito dixit, in lege quid ſcriptum / eſt? quomodo legis? Luc. 10.26. [To the expert in the law he [Jesus] said, "What is written in the Law? How do you read it?" Luke 10:26 (translation partly from the New International Version of the Bible)]
"Quod non lego, non credo. August. [What I do not read, I do not believe. Augustine.]
"Juriſprudentia eſt iuvenibus regimen, ſenibus / ſolamen, pauperibus divitiæ, & diviti- / bus ſecuritas. [Jurisprudence is a discipline for young men, and a solace for old; riches for the poor, and security for the rich.]
"Authore Edw. Coke Milite, I.C. / Hac ego grandavus poſui tibi, candide Lector. [Author Edward Coke Knight, Iuris Consultus [Lawyer]. Hence I, who am very old, have put this before thee, innocent reader.]
