Summary

Description
English: Bridge was replaced in 1840 by the Tucker Toll Bridge, a covered bridge. This spot was chosen for the first bridge because it is the narrowest point on the whole CT River. Note how close this bridge was to the water--it was damaged by floods, so the Tucker Bridge was built 15 feet higher. Most of the bridge was in NH, which owns the river to the shoreline on its west side.
