Summary

Description
English: Photo from "The SS Day" (Norwegian: SS-dagen) held in Oslo, Norway 14-15 August 1943, an event celebrating the Norwegian volunteers in Germanic SS Norway" (Germanske-SS Norge, GSSN) with parades, sport competitions, speeches, etc. Photo showing a marching German military band of muscians in SS in front of the Royal Palace in Oslo in Nazi occupied Norway during the Second World War. The drum-major's ceremonial mace (German: Tambourstock) is decorated with SS' Totenkopf symbol (skull and crossbones). The paramilitary GSSN was at the same time a Norwegian branch of Germanic-SS, and a sub organization of the Quisling's Norwegian Nazi party National Union (Nasjonal Samling, NS).
