During the meeting, one of the primary agenda items was to determine a new permanent location of the library. Those present discussed the pros and cons of approximately ten locations. As part of the following meeting, on April 29, 1957, most of the regents took a bus tour of several of the locations before ultimately deciding, with the encouragement of Michael DeBakey, to house the library on the campus of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda."
