Description
During the summer of 1889, Blanche painted several portraits of George Porto-Riche, a writer and friend who was visiting him in Dieppe. Blanche wrote: "If and when my father could at last get away from Paris and take a couple of days holiday.. we were awash with visitors.. Alexandre Dumas in his reefer jacket, Porto-Riche, Carpeaux, Antoine Vollon.. Charles Ephrussi.. and sometimes Claude Monet." The work here was dedicated to another sitter and friend, the sculpture Auguste Rodin.
