Title
English: Group of Native American men at courthouse, ca. 1920
Description
English: Sometime between 1915 and 1923, Jerry Kanim, chief of the Snoqualmie Tribe, and a group of other men visited the King County Courthouse in Seattle. A photographer from the firm of Webster & Stevens snapped a photograph of the group but left no notes on the occasion. Kanim, chief since 1914, was active in pursuing land claims and fishing rights, and it is possible that the visit concerned these issues.

This photo shows the Native American delegation standing at the entrance to the King County Courthouse. The man identified as Jerry Kanim is standing in front of the stone doorway frame, immediately to the right of the dark part of the entranceway. If anyone has any further information, please contact the Museum of History and Industry.
