Description
English: A starboard bow view of a Soviet Kara class guided missile cruiser PETROPAVLOVSK (565) shadowing salvage operations for downed Korean Air Lines Flight 007 (KAL 007). The commercial jet was shot down by Soviet aircraft over Sakhalin Island in the Sea of Japan on August 30, 1983. All 269 passengers and crewmen were killed.
