Summary

Description AWM Caption: STARBOARD SIDE VIEW OF THE DESTROYER HMAS NEPAL (EX HMS NORSEMAN). NOTE THE IDENTIFYING FUNNEL BANDS OF THE 7TH DESTROYER FLOTILLA. SHE IS ARMED WITH SIX 4.7 INCH MARK XII GUNS IN CP XIX MOUNTINGS IN A, B AND X POSITIONS. 40 MM BOFORS AA GUNS ARE SITED IN THE AFTER TORPEDO TUBE SPACE. A QUADRUPLE 2 POUNDER AA MOUNTING IS SITED ABAFT THE FUNNEL AND SINGLE 20 MM OERLIKON AA GUNS ARE MOUNTED IN THE BRIDGE WINGS AND ABREAST THE SEARCHLIGHT PLATFORM. NOTE THE TYPE 291 RADAR AT THE MASTHEAD, TYPE 271 RADAR REPLACING THE SEARCHLIGHT ON ITS PLATFORM AMIDSHIPS AND TYPE 285 FIRE CONTROL RADAR ON THE HIGH ANGLE DIRECTOR TOWER BEHIND THE BRIDGE. THE SHIP IS PAINTED IN AN ADMIRALTY STANDARD CAMOUFLAGE SCHEME OF GREY (45) WITH A BLUE (B20) PANEL. NOTE THAT A BRITISH PACIFIC FLEET LOCAL PENNANT NUMBER (D14) HAS TEMPORARILY REPLACED HER NORMAL PENNANT NUMBER (G25). (NAVAL HISTORICAL COLLECTION)
