הר כביר (בערבית הר בילאל) הוא גוש הררי גדול המתנשא מצפון מזרח לשכם ומעל (מדרום) לערוצו הגדול של ואדי פרעה (נחל תרצה). בפסגה הצפונית מערבית - נקודת גובה 792 מטר מעל גובה פני הים - נמצאת תצפית נוף רחבה מהר חרמון בצפון, הר הגלבוע במזרח והרי גלעד. מסביב להר כביר נצפים הרי השומרון; בדרום - מקרוב הרי עיבל וגריזים ובאופק הרי בנימין. בפסגה 792 ניתן לצפות בשלושה ימים: ים המלח, ים כנרת והים התיכון. ההר מכונה גם הר אברהם, על פי המסורת בבוא אברהם אל שכם ואלון מורה קיבל את ההבטחה על ארץ ישראל: "וַיַּעֲבֹר אַבְרָם בָּאָרֶץ עַד מְקוֹם שְׁכֶם עַד אֵלוֹן מוֹרֶה; וְהַכְּנַעֲנִי אָז בָּאָרֶץ. וַיֵּרָא ה' אֶל-אַבְרָם וַיֹּאמֶר: לְזַרְעֲךָ אֶתֵּן אֶת-הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת..." (בראשית י"ב, ו-ז) לאורך הרכס עוברת דרך נופית לאורך כארבעה קילומטר, בתוך שטח המוכרז שמורת טבע - שמורת הר כביר. בשיפולים הדרומיים של ההר נמצא היישוב אלון מורה מראשוני היישובים היהודיים בשומרון ומיזרחית יותר נמצאת חוות סקלי חוות סקלי המכונה גם "גבעה 792", בהתאם לגובה מעל פני הים של הפיסגה מעליו. על פסגתו המערבית של ההר מצוי "קבר שיח' בילאל אבן רבאח", 767 מטר מעל פני הים. בפסגה שלושה מצפורים המהווים אתר הנצחה לתא"ל יוסף לונץ, מושל שכם לשעבר. קיימת סברה כי הר כביר הוא הר גריזים המקראי. בשיפולים הצפוניים של ההר נמצא והוגדר בשנת 1942 על ידי טוביה קושניר, מחללי מחלקת הל"ה, הפרח אירוס השומרון.
