Description
English: Research on en:free radicals in 1957 at the US National Bureau of Standards (now NIST) The radicals are bombarded with electrons inside the vacuum chamber (center). The chamber is surrounded by Helmholtz coils (hoops) on three axes which are adjusted to cancel external magnetic fields in the chamber.
