English: 'John Kennedy (1769-1855) founded McConnel & Kennedy in 1795 with James McConnel (1762-1831) in Kirkcudbrightshire. 'Originally a machine making and cotton spinning but later dedicated themselves to purely cotton spinning. Kennedy was responsible for inventing the 'Jack frame' spinning device.'
