English: The photo shows the statues of the Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal and the revolutionary leader Dr. Pio Valenzuela in the José Rizal Memorial Protected Landscape in Dapitan City, Zamobanga Del Norte.
This is the time when Pio Valenzuela went to Dapitan to have a meeting with Rizal about the revolution and to support the Katipunan, or the Kataas-taasan, Kagalang-galangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan (KKK), a revolutionary group formed for the Philippines to gain independence from Spain. During their meeting, Dr. Jose Rizal explained to Pio Valenzuela that the was not prepared to initiate a revolution against Spain, but Rizal suggested Antonio Luna who is a Filipino army general for the KKK. |
