Summary

Description
English: This flag was gifted to the regiment by the 6th Ohio in May 1862 and was created by John Shillito & Co. of Cincinnati. It bore an inscription that read, "The 6th to the 24th Ohio - Shiloh, April 7th, 1862." During the Battle of Stones River, the flag sustained significant damage; the Battle-axe was shot away, two bullets shattered its staff, and twenty-three holes pierced its folds. Throughout the war, the regimental color was carried by ten different color sergeants, three of whom lost their lives and another seven of whom were severely wounded while gallantly bearing it aloft.
Date Circa June 1864
