Magyar: :A Képes Krónika első lapja "Cronica de gestis Hungarorum", irodalomtörténeti tekintetben egyike legfontosabb krónikáinknak, mert ősi mondáinkat legteljesebb és legköltőibb alakban tartotta fenn. E fényes kiállítású kézirat 73 ívrétű hártyalevélből áll, melyek mindegyikét történeti eseményeket és alakokat feltüntető miniature képek díszítik. Ezeknek száma 142. A képek a sienai festői iskola modorára emlékeztetnek, festőjük ismeretlen, de valószinü, hogy e krónika hazánkban készült. Tartalmazza a magyarok történetét 1342-ig. A kéziratot Nagy Lajos királyunk számára "különféle régi krónikákból", állítólag egy MÁRK nevű barát szerkesztette 1358- ban, amiért MÁRK KRÓNIKÁJÁNAK is nevezik. Az eredeti kézirat a bécsi udvari könyvtár tulajdona. A bemutatott czímlap fejképének közepén Nagy Lajos király ül menyezetes trónon, teljes királyi díszben , fején liliomos korona. - Jobb oldalán a magyar főurak, balján, hosszú virágos köpenyekben a meghódolt népek képviselői állanak. Az " A" kezdőbetű felső részén Szt. Katalin alakja látható, alatta Nagy Lajos és Erzsébet térdepelnek. A gyönyörűen színezett keret alsó részét magyar és Anjou czimerek diszítik. A szöveg szép gót betűkkel van irva. A piros sorokban a krónika iratásának ideje és a mű tárgya van elmondva.
