Kamala Bhattacharya was martyred on 19 May 1961, in Silchar, Assam, India at the age of 16. This is her only available photograph. In those days photography was not very developed in India and in district towns like Silchar it is very unlikely for refugee families to have family or personal photos. No portrait or painting of her is available. |

The image in question is a low resolution and low quality image that has little commercial value. The usage of the image would be restricted to display of the subject's picture in the article only. The image is a passport size photograph. The probable rightful and legitimate owners of the photo are the relatives of the martyr's family and their descendants. The image has been in the Internet for quite some time now. So if the rightful owners had any commercial interest in mind, surely they would have tried to sell the image to buyers and collectors of old vintage photos, which they haven't done yet. Therefore it seems that the rightful owners are either not aware of their rights or they don't have any commercial interest in mind. |
