Summary

Description
English: The picture represents wide angle frame of Kandariya Mahadev temple (Left) and Devi Jagadambi temple (Right) belonging to Khajuraho group of temples. These group of monuments has been rightly accorded UNESCO World heritage site status. These are considered as climax of Nagara Style architecture built during the rule of the Chandela dynasty.. Depicting a mixture of Hinduism and Jainism, Khajuraho temples are famous for their subtle sculptures and carvings taken from Kamasutra written by Vatsyayana. This style was started by Chandela rulers of Bundelkhand. Both the interior and exterior walls are decorated with intricate carvings. The temple is created on a relatively high platform. This style is noted for multiple 'Shikharas' which are rising in close proximity of the highest tower. It gives an impression of mountain range. Upon entering the temple, the ceiling is carefully carved with symmetric multi-layered pattern resembling the geometry of 'Mandala'. The material used in the construction of these temples is sandstone with a possible granitic foundation.
