Description INDIAN OCEAN (Nov. 3, 2020) Lt. Yuma Kuwata, from Yokohama, Japan, monitors surface contacts while standing watch in the combat information center aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) during an anti-submarine warfare training evolution as part of Malabar 2020. Malabar is an India-led multinational exercise designed to enhance cooperation between the Indian navy, Royal Australian Navy, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and U.S. maritime forces. Australian, Indian, Japanese and American maritime forces routinely operate together in the Indo-Pacific, fostering a cooperative approach toward regional security and stability.
