Description

Lucina pensylvanica (Linnaeus, 1758) - interior of a left valve of the Pennsylvania lucine, 1.85 cm across at its widest.

Family Lucinidae (Silurian to Holocene) - the lucine clams are infaunal, filter feeding bivalves occupying a variety of substrate types in marine to estuarine settings, including extremophile environments (e.g., anoxia, hydrothermal seafloor vents, cold seeps).
