Summary
| Description | Luz Patricia Mejía Guerrero fue elegida en el 37º período ordinario de sesiones de la Asamblea General de la OEA en junio de 2007 por el período reglamentario de cuatro años, contados a partir del 1º de enero de 2008. Fue Primera Vicepresidenta de la CIDH en 2008 y Presidenta en 2009. Luz Patricia Mejía es abogada egresada de la Facultad de Ciencias Jurídicas y Políticas de la Universidad Central de Venezuela, donde realizó estudios en Derecho Administrativo. Fue Directora de Consultoría Jurídica del Ministerio Público de Venezuela, y anteriormente trabajó en la Defensoría del Pueblo de ese país, ocupando los cargos de Directora de Recursos Judiciales y posteriormente Directora General de Servicios Jurídicos. Asimismo, estuvo a cargo de la ejecución del Programa de Defensa en el Programa de Educación-Acción en Derechos Humanos de Venezuela (PROVEA) y se desempeñó como abogada en la Asociación de Mujeres para la Ayuda Recíproca (AMBAR) y en la Organización Acción Ciudadana contra el SIDA (ACCSI). Fue co-redactora de la Ley de Protección de Víctimas, Testigos y Demás Sujetos Procesales, de la Ley Orgánica de la Defensoría del Pueblo y de la Ley Orgánica del Poder Ciudadano. Ha publicado investigaciones y artículos especializados y presentado ponencias en cursos y seminarios. |
