Summary

Description
English: Data are from the Health Protection Agency, as reported on their website. Graph shows thousands of cases vs. year 1940–2007, with inset showing cases vs. year 1986–2007. Additional information, including the date that measles was added to the list of notifiable diseases (1940), the date the measles vaccine was licensed (1968), and the date the combined MMR vaccine was introduced (1988) are from HPA Background Information on Measles.

Coverage was poor between the introduction of the single measles vaccine and the introduction of the MMR vaccine, damping but failing to break completely biennialic outbreaks. Coverage levels in excess of 90% followed the introduction of the MMR vaccine.
